The H.S.A have developed an online safety statement and risk assessment tool for small business.

The "BeSMART" tool can be found on the H.S.A's website http://besmart.hsa.ie/ (27 April 2011)

"Taking Care of Business

The Health & Safety Authority welcomes you to BeSMART, part of the Taking Care of Business initiative developed for small business. This tool will help you to identify the hazards in your workplace and will aid you in making your workplace safer.

This guided step-by-step process will assist you in generating your own risk assessment and safety statement, in consultation with your employees, as required under health and safety law. Best of all, there is no cost associated with using this tool.

This is a welcomed health and safety tool for small business. It encourages the people actually involved in the buisness to consider the health and safety risks associated with their work and to identify the controls they currently use to reduce risk and what additional actions may be required to ensure their workplace and work activities are safe.
